The Cross Foxes Newsletter

Welcome to the fourth newsletter of 2022.

We don’t want to make our newsletters repetitive so on this occasion we will not list the weekends of fun that have been taking place, we will just give you a little summary. Our newsletters are now sent out quarterly throughout the year so we don't bore you with all the repetitive fun we are having!

Every weekend at the Cross groups are booking the Friday and the Saturday and enjoying the insane list of activities right on our doorstep. Mountain and Gravel bike riding, walking and climbing, cold water swimming and immersion, fishing....etc.

They are also booking to reunite with each other. Long standing friendship groups, birthday celebrations work groups even. They are doing in the area of outstanding beauty and peace where the Cross is situated; Snowdonia. The Cross Foxes is perfect for large groups and reunions; sleeping 27 people with entertainment and fantastic food!

On one of the sunny days of the June bank holiday one of the groups decided to go wild swimming in Lyn Hafod. What a day for a jump in the lake!

A group tried out day 2 of the Snowdonia way which finishes at The Cross Foxes. They chose the high level route and the descriptive book was quite hard to follow. After confidence in the leader waned, they ended up turning back to try the beer in Dolgellau.

Arenig Fawr

In 1943 a Flying Fortress crashed into this mountain. On the 21st May a group went up there to see the monument. Our recent generations are so lucky and I’m not sure we realise it.

Eight young men lost their lives that night on the hillside while protecting the lives we have now. We are hugely indebted.

The memorial lies in honor of those men.

We had a very busy weekend on the Queen's Jubilee Bank holiday, the rooms were full and so was our restaurant/bar!

The group staying with us ventured out to a walk we suggested in at Llyn Ystradau Lake in Blaenau Ffestiniog starting at the Lakeside cafe. The start of the walk is the trickiest with a steep climb up into the tunnel of the old slate mines.

Once they reached the top they were fascinated with the old ruins of buildings and mining equipment. It really takes you back in time.

On the Friday night we had DJ DavieD with us for some fun Karaoke and on Saturday night were the Magee Brothers with some fantastic live music. What a weekend.

See you soon.
