Mountain biking in Snowdonia

There are 3 main mountain biking centres in Snowdonia, all with a wide variety of tracks for all ages and experience levels. Snowdonia also has many mountain harder single biking routes, for example nearly every mountain has a biking track to the summit as well as a footpath.

Coed-y-Brenin is a popular forest park with many fantastic routes for running, walking and mountain biking. There is a wide variation of routes to suit all ages and abilities from the green 'Yr Afon' trail (5 mile) to the black 'Beast of Brenin' trail (24 mile).


In total Coed-y-Brenin's biking routes sum up to around 90 miles of exciting trail, the scenery in Coed-y-Brenin makes riding there all the more enjoyable with its views of mountain ranges, waterfalls, rivers, bridges...etc.


To top it all off Coed-y-Brenin even has it's own visitor centre with useful facilities:

In the picturesque town of Betws-y-Coed Gwydir Forest Park entails trails of scenic lakes, mountains and a vast range of wildlife. The park has a variety of walking trails, mountain biking routes and orienteering courses to test your map reading skills.


The park is well known for its popular trail Gwydir Mawr, one of the original mountain biking trails in Snowdonia. The 25km route is filled with big climbs and big descents mostly on the scenic forest roads.


The trail is topped off with fantastic scenery, the trail has a smaller 8.7km route incorporated trail that can be completed within it, Gwydir Bach, catering for more abilities.


The forest park has parking, a picnic area and toilets.

Dyfi forest has many interesting routes for a range of abilities and epic scenery. The forest also has many freeriding opportunities.

Dyfi forest has splendid walks and bike routes with mountains, difficult climbs and narrow pathways to enhance the challenge.


This forest is for enthusiastic and experienced riders as there is less facilities such as cafes and bike hire. The free riding routes are also not marked with way points so good map reading skills will be required.


Snowdonia has hundreds of singular mountain biking routes waiting to be explored, family trips are just that little bit easier when you visit a forest park with parking, bike hire and a café!
